The leaves are turning golden in the treetops
The time we have together's nearly gone
The grains of sand are slipping through the hourglass
The seconds tick by quickly one by one
How could you go and leave me here without you
I cannot bear to live my life this way
The haunting shadow of your eyes reminds me
You promised you'll come back to me some day
The autumn leaves are falling from the branches
You left me here and all I do is cry
My aching heart can only ask one question
How can fate be so cruel to me - and why?
Stark branches scrape the sky outside my window
The autumn wind blows by me with a sigh
My life seems cold and meaningless without you
If not for hope, I'd fade away and die
But just as green buds soon will start to blossom
As spring brings back the life to every tree
The bleak and dark can quickly be forgotten
Come back my love and do the same for me
And soon the tender leaves will dance in sunshine
Come back my love and bring your sweet caress
The moment that your gentle lips meet mine, love
You'll have brought me back my happiness
