STARVED FOR LOVE

I gave myself the gift this morning of taking a few minutes to sit on my
front porch, relax, and do a little self-Reiki. (And yes, I had to be nudged
by a friend's email to do this).
As is the norm for me, after only a minute or two of letting my mind clear
and the energy begin to flow, I felt tears welling in my eyes. As I
encouraged the Reiki, I silently chanted - 'let the Reiki flow, let the love
flow - there is plenty for all..'
When I've been the recipient of any type of energy work in the past, it
seems I always had a tearful reaction - and I'm beginning to realize just
what this is.
It is our true selves (my true self) acknowledging just how little love we
allow ourselves to give and receive on a daily basis - it is the self crying
as it tells us just how starved we are for love.
Sure - we all know we are supposed to love and honour our selves - but I
find that this concept often only goes as deep as the ego.
We may honour our bodies by working out, watching our diets, staying away
from that which causes physical pain, and reveling in physical pleasures
whenever possible.
We treat our minds to new ideas, learning, communication. We nourish our
souls by reading inspirational treatises, by meditating now and then, by
studying new philosophies.
But how often do we acknowledge that we really and truly LOVE our SELVES -
and that there is plenty of that love to go around?
I developed a little meditation technique for myself some time ago when I
was struggling with the tail-end of a long bout of depressions, and as of
today, I vow to incorporate this into my routine whenever I can.
First, I become my mind. As my mind, I meditate on and acknowledge my love
ad respect for my body, then my soul.
Then I become my body. I acknowledge my love for my mind and my soul.
Lastly, I speak as my soul, and feel the love for my mind and my body.
This whole process only takes me about 5 minutes (when I remember to do it).
I remind myself that we can only love others at the capacity to which we
love ourselves. And that SELF we are supposed to be loving is not just the
self we see when we look in the mirror in the morning, it is the real SELF
of mind, body and soul which is connected on the divine level to every other
soul in the universe.
Don't let it starve.
