This is a little incident that happened to me a few months ago and I wanted to share it with you.

I had been counting the days and weeks leading up to an important business meeting late last summer. A group of us had put months of work into a project and now we were finally at the point where we were going to have a team meeting and hammer out the final details of the practical matters.

The meeting began and we all knew before any words were even spoken that something had gone wrong. Sure enough, the news was devastating. Due to a contract issue and some mistakes on the part of the project managers, the whole deal was going to be scrapped, no-one was to be compensated for their work, and it was declared to be the end of the road for this project.

I was probably more devastated than most of the team because while other people had been involved in the project as a sideline, I had intended to make it my career focus. We all left the room in various stages of disappointment and shock.

When I got out to the dusty, cramped little city parking lot where I'd left my car, I got a sign from the angels. I was just getting into the driver's seat when I noticed a beautiful, fluffy, pure white feather dancing on my windshield. Naturally, I jumped back out of the car and picked up the little feather, which I have treasured ever since. I looked around to see if there were any birds flying overhead at the time, or hopping around nearby, but couldn't see a single one. I'm sure it was a feather from an angel - maybe even an angel's wing - a little gift to tell me they had seen what had happened and they cared, and that everything would somehow be okay.

Ou angels and spirit guides 'speak' to us in many ways, and most often, we sense them through subtle signs rather than by hearing disembodied voices or seeing the apparitions we commonly see on TV shows and in movies.

Here are a few ways angels and spirits will let you know they are around:

- Items you find along your path: feathers, pennies, other coins.

- Twinkly lights you see out of the corner of your eye, usually white, silvery or gold.

- Animals interacting with you in unexpected ways and/or behaving in an unusual manner. (This can be a real animal showing up on your doorstep or crossing your path, or a dream or other reference to animals that seems to be calling for your attention). Last year, I had a blue jay, a cardinal, a monarch butterfly (the first I'd seen of the season) and a bunny all appear in my backyard at once during a healing meditation. The blue jay stayed around for a long time even though they are very nervous birds and my large dog was bounding around the yard as well.

- Songs with special meanings or references coming on the radio, usually just when you need to hear words of comfort or upliftment.

- Especially vivid dreams of departed loved ones, or dreams of (sometimes) faceless beings who aid you in some way or impart special knowledge to you.

- Scents: angels usually bring the scent of rose or lavender. Spirits can bring any scent they are/were associated with, such as cooking aromas, perfumes, tobacco, etc.

- Coincidences, especially those such as messages in the media (TV, radio, magazines, etc.), timely messages in your email, bumper stickers, signs in a store window, or overhearing a snippet of a conversation that is meaningful to you.

- An invisible touch, such as a feeling that someone is touching you gently on your arm or face, or tickling your hair. You may even feel a cool breeze on your face when there is no window or door open. This is most likely an angel or loving spirit letting you know he or she is with you and he cares.

- A flutter in your tummy, or any other physical sign you come to recognize as coming from spirit. For me, I know my angels and spirit guides are around when I get a pressure in my eardrum. It usually happens when I am mulling over something of a spiritual or metaphysical nature, and I am always grateful for the 'help' from beyond the veil.

Signs and messages from the angelic realm will occur more often when you pay attention, acknowledge them, and thank the spirits and angels for their work and their presence. May angels light your life today and every day!
