I had tons of ideas floating around in my head for this week's column but nothing was really keeping my attention, until I asked myself this morning what subject was 'speaking' to me right now. The first idea I jotted down was the topic of synchronicity and I jumped right into making some notes on the subject. Taking a break from the writing, I went to my files of readers' comments and what did I find there but the following letter: Hi Zsuzsana, I wanted to tell the gentleman that had dreamed of meeting his lady friend and then met her in Vermont that this phenomenon is called synchronicity. It is part of being psychic. I had a similar situation recently. I needed to go to Carson City, Nevada. I live in Virginia City, Nevada which is about 20 miles away and I do not have a car. Something told me to go to a friend that runs a senior center here in our town and ask her if she was going that way. She was just getting ready to leave for Carson City at that very moment .There are no coincidences. I believe that part of being psychic is learning to go with the flow and following those inner voices or what I refer to as "that still small voice". Please tell Richard L. to keep following that still small voice, it won't ever steer him wrong! Blessings go out to both of you! Kim W. Thanks, Kim! (By the way, I have a dear online friend in Carson City, Nevada and I just heard from her today too!) Readers, you can find Richard L.'s letter in last week's issue at our archives page. Synchronicity is the coming together of inner and outer events in a way that cannot be explained by cause and effect and that is meaningful to the observer. -- Carl Jung Jung, the famed Swiss psychologist who coined the term 'synchronicity, defines it as an "acausal connecting principle" (ie. a pattern of connection that is not explained by causality), and also as "temporally coincident occurrences of acausal events." In The Structure and Dynamics of the Psyche, wherein Jung describes his research into the phenomenon of the collective unconscious, he speaks of observing coincidences connected in such a meaningful way that their occurrence seemed to defy the calculations of probability. "A young woman I was treating had, at a critical moment, a dream in which she was given a golden scarab. While she was telling me her dream, I sat with my back to the closed window. Suddenly I heard a noise behind me, like a gentle tapping. I turned round and saw a flying insect knocking against the window-pane from outside. I opened the window and caught the creature in the air as it flew in. It was the nearest analogy to the golden scarab that one finds in our latitudes, a scarabaeid beetle, the common rose-chafer (Cetoaia urata) which contrary to its usual habits had evidently felt an urge to get into a dark room at this particular moment. I must admit that nothing like it ever happened to me before or since, and that the dream of the patient has remained unique in my experience." (Note: The scarab is also an ancient symbol of self-generation, resurrection and rebirth). continued... ------------------------------------------------------------ Synchronicity is considered by some to be the work of fate, Lady Luck, destiny, karma, miracles, angels or some divine power. For some it is simply a sign that they are on the right path, or that they are in tune with their higher selves (or intution, their psychic senses, or the 'Source'). In the case of Richard L.., for example, there are several possible explanations for his meeting with his old friend. Some would say that he 'manifested' the meeting, perhaps communicating with her telepathically to arrange for her presence. Or perhaps his thoughts put the message out to the universe (God, the angels, the spirit world...) who worked to arrange the meeting, as unlikely a probability as this encounter was. And yes, you might ask, but who put the repeated thoughts there?:>) It can also be argued that his thoughts of his friend were a psychic prediction of the meeting, or maybe the encounter was simply a cosmic wink, one of those glimpses we get now and then of the mysterious workings of the universe. I had a note in my planner earlier this week to ask a friend of mine named Greta how her Ebay business was going. Around the same time, just a few nights ago, I had a dream of a man winning $15,000 in a lottery. The morning after the dream when I checked my email, I found a spoof email from a purported Ebay member asking me about a non-existent purchase of an item costing $1500, signed by a "Gretta". To see that name, the amount, and Ebay all in one email was quite surprising. Whether there is any further significance in this I don't know, but I was sure struck by the synchronicity of this odd occurrence. On any given day, though, I can pretty much count on the internet, and emails in particular, to toss some very striking cosmic winks at me. Another incident that still stands out in my mind happened many years ago when my then husband and I were searching for a house. On our short list of properties that we made or tried to make offers on were 3 houses in far flung areas of the city and all of these houses were number 39. We faced one obstacle after the other and all the offers fell through until finally some weeks later, I found the beautiful house we ended up purchasing, also a number 39. Do you want to have some fun with synchronicity? Start recording your dreams, making notes of names, numbers, phrases and anything else you can remember. Then, turn on the news, open a newspaper, magazine, book or your email (yes - even your spam!). If you're anything like me, you will, on a daily basis, notice many items in these media that match up with your dreams. The boundaries between synchronicity, intuition and the sixth sense are fuzzy at best, but even if we can't explain its mysteries, it's a lot of fun to 'play' with this phenomenon. Do you have any experiences with synchronicity you'd like to share? I have always believed in paranormal, guides and so forth. I have often wanted to visit with a psychic but don't know how to judge the quality of someone and know if they are legitimate or just a money taker. Can you give me some advice on that matter? I live in lower Delaware near the ocean just outside of Fenwick Island. I would really appreciate your help with this. Your newsletter is awesome and I look forward to receiving the next one. Thank you, Susan Robinson ****************************************************** Hi, Susan. First of all, you need to research and decide what kind of reading you want. You can choose from palm reading, psychometry, intuitive astrology or numerology, Tarot, channels, clairvoyants, spiritualists, mediums, aura readers, and much more. There are psychics who channel angels, spirit guides, departed spirits and other spirit entities. Then, you should consider a psychic's experience or background. Ask friends, family and co-workers if they have ever used a psychic's services and if so, were they pleased with the service. Also, you can inquire at holistic clinics, spiritual organizations, and metaphysical bookstores in your area for names and information. I would definitely avoid anyone who charges outrageous prices, or encourages a series of multiple readings. Also, I would stay away from anyone who offers to place curses for you or to remove curses from you. A psychic reading should empower you, not disempower you. You may on occasion encounter a 'bad' psychic even if you've done your research, just like you can choose a bad hairdresser. As long as you don't allow yourself to get 'sucked in' to any nonsense, or information that doesn't resonate with you, the worst thing that will happen is that you will probably lose a bit of money and your time. On the other hand, you will know what to look for and what to avoid next time:>) I once made an appointment for a tarot reading and I was horrified to see the woman take out a Tarot manual and read the meaning of each card to me right from the book as the sum total of the session. More than likely though, especially if you've done your research, you will get a reading that gives you positive guidance and insight, and hopefully some fascinating messages from spirit. As a professional psychic myself, I always tell my clients I can not solve their problems, only show them the best suggestions for making good choices. If the client is unwilling or unable to take steps to change an unhappy direction for themselves, or if there are very serious issues at stake, I will always recommend they seek professional help, rather than relying solely on a psychic reading to solve a problem. Never go to a psychic who tries to set you up to rely on him or her or any magic paraphernalia to solve your problems. A good psychic is there to give you insights and inspiration and to encourage you to use whatever information comes through from spirit in a positive and self-empowering way. I have readings regularly, especially as I have so many friends and associates who are also readers or intuitives, but I use the readings to enhance my life, not to define it. Personally, I enjoy the intuitive, spirit based readings more than the more mathematical ones, like astrology or numerology, but that is only a personal preference. Decide what resonates best with you and I have no doubt you can find a qualified reader either online or in your area. Online, you can choose from phone psychics (personally I would stay away from the 'psychic lines' but there are many individual psychics listed online who will read for you over the phone), chat readings or email readings. In all cases, verify the length of the readings and fees/rates before- hand. In my own practice, I usually provide readings by email, and I offer a follow-up or clarification free of charge to give the client the opportunity to interact and provide feedback. In any event, you will want to chose someone who is recommended by someone you trust or who has the credentials, style and persona that 'speak' to you. Have fun! ------------------------------------------------------------ Hi Zsuzsana~ In thinking about this recent phenomenon of birds dying in mass, I wonder if perhaps they are the victims of some of the 'Star Wars' technology? Perhaps they are flying thru a field of energy sent by these satellites? Or the energy happened to be beamed into one of their nesting sites? Unlike most, I don't think crop circles are caused by UFO activity. I think they are caused by computer-generated patterns from some of this equipment out in our outer atmosphere. I know from experience that yes, 'they' are out there, too, but find it difficult to believe that 'they' would bother making pretty patterns in an empty field for theirs or our amusement! I'd be curious to know if anyone else has thought about these things from this point of view? Love your newsletter! Gale Thanks for your comments, Gale - I find your ideas very interesting! Readers, please send in any comments. Zsuzsana *************************************************** HI Zsuzsana, Three years ago I was talking to a friend beside our cars. I live in Asheville, NC. I looked up and saw a massive green fire ball go across the sky. My friend didn't see it. No report of this was on the TV or anywhere. Just last week there were about 20 people who saw a similar object again in Asheville. What do you think? Is this a meteor or possibly UFO? Any insight sure would help my curiosity. Thanks, Betsy in Asheville *************************************************** Hi Betsy! Here's another synchronicity - I just saw a real estate show on television last night featuring homes in Asheville:>) What a lovely place! I don't know anything about the sightings you describe but if you go to a search engine like Google and type in "index of UFO sightings" you will find some great sites with tons of documentation and information easily laid out in list form for reference. Good luck. Best wishes to you and all my readers!
